PROS AND CONS OF CRUISE CASH

The main pro being the ability to budget your spending in advance, but the biggest con is that it’s non-refundable and cannot be transferred to future cruises.

Pros of Carnival Cruise Cash:

  • Budgeting tool: Allows you to set a specific amount of money to spend on board in advance, helping to control your spending and avoid overspending on drinks, food, or activities.
  • Convenience: You can pre-purchase Cruise Cash before your cruise, so you don’t need to worry about adding money to your account once onboard.
  • Gift option: Can be a thoughtful gift for friends or family who are going on a Carnival cruise.

Cons of Carnival Cruise Cash:

  • Non-refundable: Once purchased, Cruise Cash cannot be refunded, even if you don’t use all of it on your cruise.
  • Non-transferable: You cannot use any leftover Cruise Cash on future cruises.
  • May not be necessary: Many cruisers find it easier to simply add money to their Sail & Sign account on board as needed, as they can get a refund for any unspent amount.
  • Potential for overspending: If you pre-purchase a large amount of Cruise Cash, you might be tempted to spend more than you intended.

Key points to remember:

  • Use it for specific items: Consider using Cruise Cash for planned extras like specialty dining or specific drinks, rather than for general onboard purchases.
  • Check the terms: Always review the details of the Cruise Cash program before purchasing to understand the rules regarding validity and usage.
  • Alternative option: If you want to manage your spending without the risk of losing unused funds, simply add cash to your Sail & Sign account on board.
