FREE THINGS IN ST. CROIX
- 1. Rhythms at Rainbow Beach – The Best Bar and Top Beach on the island is situated less than a 10 minute walk or short cab ride from the Cruise Dock in Frederiksted. One-of-a kind sunsets and beautiful views! We are the original home of the Lime In The Coconut. Relax on the beach, catch a live performance on our famous stage by the islands best musicians, dance, eat great fare, jet ski, snorkel, visit our T-Shirt shop for authentic souvenirs, and even plan an ATV tour around the island.
- 2. Point Udall – This rocky promontory, the easternmost point in the United States, juts into the Caribbean Sea and features “The Castle,” a huge mansion perched atop the cliffs and which resembles India’s Taj Mahal and a Moorish mosque.
- 3. Carambola Tide Pools – The Annaly Bay tide pools found on St. Croix are accessed by a two mile hike through the rainforest, offering stunning views culminating at the tide pools.
- 4. Isaac Bay – You need a four-wheel-drive vehicle to get here, but it’s well worth the trip to this scenic and secluded beach, perfect for swimming, and a barrier reef for snorkeling.
- 5. Frederiksted Pier – A great day or night dive, the pier is home to a thriving population of marine and coral life.
- 6. Cane Bay – Located on St. Croix’s north shore, the waters are not always gentle along this palm-tree-lined beach, but scuba diving and snorkeling are very popular here where less than 200 yards out is the drop-off called Cane Bay Wall.
- 7. Sandy Point Beach And National Wildlife Refuge – The Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge has one of the longest and most pristine white sand beaches in the US Virgin Islands.
- 8. Shoy Beach – This palm-frond Christiansted beach is great for body surfing.
- 9. Estate Mount Washington Plantation – If you have ever dreamed of owning a piece of historic property, St. Croix currently has several amazing options available. When “sugar was king” in the Caribbean, St. Croix was scattered with sprawling sugar plantations. As time marched on, many of these plantations were partially destroyed by hurricanes, or were abandoned when the sugar trade ceased, subsequently falling into ruin. Today, many of these historic plantation properties are still privately owned and have been restored, or have had new homes built amongst the ruins. Arguably the most well known and stunning of these properties is Estate Mt. Washington.
- 10. Davis Bay – Beside the crystalline waters of Davis Bay, this beautiful white sand beach lined with palm trees is a great spot for swimming, bodysurfing, snorkeling and scuba diving.
