This pass covers both land and sea, ensuring consistent service without overages.

  • Cruise Plus Package ($100/line): A one-time charge covering 1GB of data, unlimited talk, and unlimited text for the duration of the trip.

  • Activation: The $20 Day Pass activates automatically when you use your phone on a cruise ship, but you only pay for the days you use it.
  • Avoid Charges: If you do not want to use these services, turn on Airplane Mode and rely on ship Wi-Fi.
  • Alternative: Ship Wi-Fi may be more economical for heavy data users, according to Cruise Critic Community.

It is highly recommended to verify your ship is covered by checking the official AT&T International Day Pass Cruise Ship Guide before you travel.

VERIZON

Verizon offers a Cruise Daily Pass for $20 per 24-hour session, providing 0.5 GB of high-speed data (then unlimited 3G speed), unlimited talk to the US, and unlimited text while at sea. It only charges on days you use the service, activating automatically when you connect to the ship’s cellular network (Cellular at Sea).

Key Details for Verizon Cruise Daily Pass:

  • Cost: $20 per 24-hour session.
  • Data: 0.5 GB high-speed data, then unlimited at 3G speeds.
  • Talk/Text: Unlimited calls to the U.S. and unlimited texts.
  • Activation: Text “CRUISE” to 4004 to add it to your line before you go.
  • Coverage: Works 12+ miles from land on over 200+ cruise ships.
  • Boost: If you use the full 0.5 GB, you can purchase an additional 0.5 GB for $10, which can be done multiple times.

Important Tips:

  • Turn off WiFi: To use the Cruise Daily Pass data, ensure your device’s WiFi is turned off.
  • Vs. TravelPass: The standard $12/day TravelPass does not work at sea, only in port.
  • Alternatives: Consider the cruise ship’s own Wi-Fi packages, which may offer faster, unlimited, or cheaper internet access.

To avoid unwanted charges, ensure you understand when you are connected to the ship’s network (indicated as “Cellular at Sea” or similar on your phone) rather than land-based networks in port.
